Summary

2 years of experience and a 14K sign‑on bonus for qualified candidates. This position requires basic knowledge of neuroscience and general medical overflow diagnoses, and the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for these patients.

Responsibilities

• 30%) Regularly assess patients/clients needs and provide skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician authorized plan of care and accepted standards of nursing practice.
• 30%) Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, treatments, call lights, assisting with transfers, responding to alarms, etc.
• 20%) Evaluate effectiveness of treatment plan and make suggestions or participate in updating/revising the treatment plan in collaboration with other team members, utilizing current information to improve patient care.
• 10%) Process physician/provider orders and perform physician ordered care accurately, completely and in a timely manner.
• 10%) Follow up regarding medication changes and order clarifications.
• Demonstrate the ability to interpret information and report pertinent data to the physician.
• Assess learning needs considering readiness, ability, preferences, and cultural/spiritual variables.
• Provide education to meet individual learning needs.
• Participate in care conferences as assigned.
• Develop and maintain good working rapport with interdisciplinary personnel to meet the needs of each patient.
• Coordinate care provided by patient care technicians.

• Implement and monitor teaching plans that will assist patients in adapting to lifestyle changes.
• Make appropriate team assignments based on staff expertise and patient need.
• Monitor and initiate safety measures to prevent patient injury.
• All other duties as assigned.

Certifications and Licensures

• BLS: Basic Life Support – Equivalent experience within 3 months of hire.
• RN: Registered Nurse – Essential qualification.
• TEAM ADVANCED: Techniques for Effective Aggression Management – Equivalent experience within 6 months of hire; employees hired on or before 12/31/2023 have 24 months to complete the certification.
• ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support – Equivalent experience within 6 months of hire.
• DIMC: Dysrhythmia Interpretation & Management – Employees hired after January 1 2025 required to complete within 12 months of hire.
• NIHSS: National Institute of Health Stroke Scale – Equivalent experience within 6 months of hire.

Required Education

Associate degree in Nursing; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.

Other Information

• Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups at all levels.
• Required to complete 8 hours of stroke training annually.
• Competency in Microsoft Windows expected; further learning opportunities may be offered.

Physical/Mental Requirements and Typical Working Conditions

Exposure to stressful situations, public contact, trauma, grief, and death. Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including latex. Ability to move freely within the facility, with or without an assisted device. Vision and hearing necessary. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk for long periods; may require stooping, kneeling, crouching. Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials; must follow blood‑borne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, maintain regular and predictable attendance, stay awake, perform dexterous movements.

Physical demand level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0‑33 % of the workday) lift or carry 21‑50 lb., frequently 34‑66 % of the workday 20 lb., and or walk/stand/push/pull arm/leg controls constantly (67‑100 % of the workday) 10 lb.
