This position is a leader in the provision of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The RN effectively delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members; assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes; demonstrates sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity in all interactions; maintains involvement in activities aimed toward achieving unit and department strategic goals; and supports Ochsner’s philosophy of nursing.

Education

Compliance Responsibilities

Physical and Environmental Demands

The physical demands include lifting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. The job requires walking or standing, sitting for long periods with occasional pushing or pulling, and working at a production pace. Duties performed routinely include exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue; direct patient contact; and handling specimens that may contain communicable diseases. Occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases exists.
