Job Overview

10k sign-on bonus is available to well qualified applicants! Highpoint Health with Ascension Saint Thomas - Winchester offers a Registered Nurse position on the Medical Surgical team.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.


• Perform plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments.


• Document patient care given.


• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.


• Assist patients with activities of daily living (personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).


• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.


• Evaluate learning needs of patient and/or family and provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.


• Advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.


• Perform other duties as assigned.


• May be required to perform duties of CNA, MA, or LPN, or other nursing staff on occasion.


• Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-services, projects, and committees as assigned.


• Adhere to and support policies and procedures of Highpoint Health with Ascension Saint Thomas - Winchester.


• Work scheduled shifts, including overtime when necessary, and accept all call schedule as directed.


• Maintain neat and professional appearance in compliance with the existing dress code.


• Perform occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens (present for all employees).


• Report to the Director of Med Surg.

Minimum Education

• Associate's degree is required.
