RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Medical Oncology unit in New Brunswick. This part-time night-shift position offers opportunity to work in a 32-bed unit with a focus on oncology care, chronic blood disorders, and transition planning, while maintaining strong patient relationships.

The role requires NJ RN licensure, BLS, and relevant acute care experience; Bachelor’s in Nursing preferred and ACLS/ NBC encouraged within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred or to be completed within 5 years.
• BLS certification required; ACLS/NBC preferred or within 6 months.
• 2-3 years of acute care RN experience preferred.
• ACLS/NBC encouraged for growth.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes.
• Provide safe, evidence-based medications and hands-on care.
• Serve as clinical partner to physicians and advance care decisions.

As a Registered Nurse within the Medical Oncology Unit at RWJ University Hospital New Brunswick, you will help advance patient care and strengthen the experience of individuals and families across our organization. This is a 32 Bed Oncology Unit. All 32 beds are private rooms. In this unit, you will see a variety of medical oncology, surgical oncology, other blood disorders and intermediate care patient population.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognizing subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care
• Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS Certification with at least 0- 6 months of acute care RN experience required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is strongly preferred or must be completed within 5 years upon hire. National Board Certification and ACLS Certification is preferred or must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Prior 2-3 years of RN experience within acute care is highly preferred and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers a Part-Time Nights Shift schedule from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Monday - Friday with weekend and holiday rotations, 36 hours per week, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
