Job summary

Swain Community Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Med/Surg unit on a PRN basis. You will work 12-hour shifts, with potential weekends and holidays, delivering compassionate, patient-centered care within a 14-bed unit.

Join a team of physicians, advanced practitioners, RNs and CNAs, with a 6:1 patient ratio, where your assessments, interventions and documentation support high-quality outcomes and continuous improvement in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required.
• Associate's degree required; BSN preferred.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
• Performs timely and accurate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments.

Join our team in a 14-bed Medical Surgical Unit where you will provide compassionate care to patients alongside a dedicated team of Physicians, Advanced Practitioners, Registered Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants. With a 6:1 ratio, you will play a crucial role in assessing patient's needs, administering treatments and ensuring patient comfort and safety. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality patient care. This unit utilizes a self-scheduling application.

How You'll Contribute

What we're looking for

• Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Associate's degree required, BSN preferred.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
