Job summary

Mercy Hospital South in Missouri seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for Med Surg 5E. Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care, coordinate with departments, and uphold patient rights and confidentiality.

Full-time position, 36 hours per week, 7:00am–7:00pm shifts. Sign-on bonuses up to $10,000 for experienced nurses and up to $5,000 for new graduates. A strong Med Surg environment supports professional growth and diverse clinical experiences.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with one of the listed degrees.
• Current RN license in Missouri or compact licensure as per state rules.
• BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care using the nursing process and maintain professional accountability.
• Assess and evaluate patient conditions, and coordinate care with other departments.
• Protect patient rights and confidentiality of information.
• Ensure care is delivered in alignment with Mercy mission and standards.

About the Unit

Med Surg 5E cares for adult medical patients with diagnoses such as small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia. This unit provides an excellent environment to strengthen core Med Surg skills, enhance assessment abilities, and manage patients with diverse medical needs.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following: Associate Degree in Nursing
• Nursing Diploma
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.
• Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.
• Certifications: Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.
• Preferred QualificationsEducation: BSN preferred
• Preferred QualificationsLicensure: Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
• Preferred QualificationsExperience: Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
