Job summary

Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Registered Nurse for Med Surg 5E. You will provide patient care using the nursing process, coordinate care with other departments, and maintain patient rights and confidentiality.

The role offers a full-time schedule (36 hours/week) with day shifts (7:00am–7:00pm) and a sign-on bonus up to $10,000 for experienced nurses or up to $5,000 for new graduates.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following: ADN, Nursing Diploma, or BSN.
• Licensure: Current RN license in Missouri or compact; meets state board requirements.
• Experience: Hospital experience preferred depending on unit.

About the Unit

Med Surg 5E cares for adult medical patients with diagnoses such as small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia. This unit provides an excellent environment to strengthen core Med Surg skills, enhance assessment abilities, and manage patients with diverse medical needs.

• Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.
• Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.
• Certifications: Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.
• Preferred QualificationsEducation: BSN preferred
• Preferred QualificationsLicensure: Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
• Preferred QualificationsExperience: Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
