Job summary

Mercy Hospital South in Missouri is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Med Surg 5E. You will apply the nursing process to provide patient care, coordinate with other departments, and ensure patient rights and confidentiality while upholding Mercy Service Standards.

The position is full-time 36 hours per week, day shift (7:00am–7:00pm). Typical unit patients include adults with varied medical conditions; prior Med Surg experience is preferred and BLS is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with RN licensure.
• Current RN license in Missouri or compact state.
• BLS certification required or within 30 days of hire.
• Experience in hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care.
• Maintains accountability and coordinates care with other departments.

• Experienced Nurses: Up to $10,000
• New Graduate Nurses (less than 1 year of experience): Up to $5,000

About the Unit — Med Surg 5E

Med Surg 5E cares for adult medical patients with diagnoses such as small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia. This unit provides an excellent environment to strengthen core Med Surg skills, enhance assessment abilities, and manage patients with diverse medical needs.OverviewUtilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:Associate Degree in Nursing Nursing Diploma Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.
• Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.
• Certifications:Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: BSN preferred
• Licensure: Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
• Experience: Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
