Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a part-time registered nurse for the 7N Surgery Orthopedics unit at Carolinas Medical Center: Mercy. The role supports the nursing process and coordinates patient care for orthopedic surgical patients.

This weekend schedule features two 12-hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays from 7am to 7pm, with a pay range of $38.20-$57.30 per hour and available sign-on/relocation bonuses for eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of inpatient nursing experience preferred; 6 months required outside of New Grad residency program.
• Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program.
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
• Apply evidence‑based practice, clinical decision‑making, compassion, and skilled communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.

Position Overview

Department: Carolinas Medical Center: Mercy - Nursing: 7N Surgery Orthopedics

Status: Part time

Hours per week: 24

Schedule: Weekender Part‑time days – two 12‑hour shifts every Saturday & Sunday from 7am–7pm. Sign‑on bonus available to applicants who have not received a sign‑on bonus from the company for another role within the past 24 months. Relocation bonus available if current residency is outside of designated distance to facility.

Pay range: $38.20 – $57.30 per hour

Location: 48‑bed Orthopedic Surgery Medical Surgical Telemetry Unit. Common procedures: total joint knee, hip, shoulder replacement, spine, shoulder procedures, general medical patients.
