Job Opening: Registered Nurse RN Manager Emergency Department FT Days

Position Summary:

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the safe and continuous operation of the assigned department(s), overseeing patient care, budgeting, staffing, and quality assurance. This role supports the strategic goals of the department and provides leadership and direction according to organizational objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the department under the guidance of the Unit Director.
  2. Coordinate and direct patient care to meet patients' needs and hospital policies.
  3. Provide leadership aligned with organizational and departmental goals.
  4. Interview candidates and make hiring recommendations.
  5. Create and adjust staffing schedules to optimize productivity.
  6. Implement disciplinary actions as necessary.
  7. Conduct performance evaluations and oversee probationary assessments for new staff.
  8. Lead performance improvement initiatives and quality measures within the unit.
  9. Accurately record all worked hours, manage overtime, and oversee payroll records.
  10. Maintain attendance records and counsel staff as needed.
  11. Verify accuracy of unit charges.
  12. Collaborate with the director to develop or revise policies and procedures.
  13. Model professional conduct, including attitude, customer service, confidentiality, communication, and attendance.
  14. Facilitate physician interactions to ensure high-quality patient care and satisfaction.
  15. Demonstrate clinical expertise and knowledge.
  16. Order supplies as needed and assist with patient care when necessary.
  17. Serve as acting director when required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; pursuing a Master's degree (MSN preferred).
  • 3-5 years' experience in an acute care setting, including at least 1 year in the specialty area.
  • Management experience required.
  • Valid Multi-State RN License; if from a non-compact state, apply for and obtain within 30 days.
  • American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required.
  • Mandatory certifications relevant to the department within the orientation period.
