Springfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for perioperative care in the Main Operating Room. You will prepare the room, transfer patients, and support the surgical team through the procedure and post-op phases.

You will maintain charting, update families hourly, and administer meds to the sterile field. This Magnet hospital emphasizes high-quality care and teamwork in a fast-paced environment with advanced robotics.

Qualifications

• Licensed as RN in Illinois required.
• Current BLS/CPR certification per policy.
• Ability to position and transfer patients.
• Endurance for prolonged standing and fast-paced care.
• Proficient in IV/IM procedures.

This is a Full Time, Evening Shift Position - No Weekends or Call. Flexible Rotating Schedule: Four 10-Hour Shifts per Week (10:45am - 9:15pm / 12:45pm-11:15pm).

The Main Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for every aspect of the patient’s care during surgery. The day begins with preparing the room for the procedure, picking the patient up from pre-op, positioning the patient, maintaining the charting and caring for the patient before, during and after the surgery. The nurse will act as the liaison between the family and the surgeon beginning with the call to let the family know that the first incision has been made. The nurse will continue to contact the family every hour or two to provide updates. During the surgery, the nurse is responsible for updating charting/paperwork, getting supplies if needed and administering meds to the sterile field. This process may be repeated for 1-4 surgeries a day depending on length of each surgery. The nurse works in an extremely team focused environment with their core team, scrub personnel, CRNA, Anesthesiologist and surgeon. The department is fast paced and technologically driven, which includes 3 DaVinci robots. Springfield Memorial Hospital had one of the first DaVinci Xis in the area.

Licensure/Certification/Registry

• Licensed as RN in State of Illinois required.
• Current BLS/CPR certification per policy.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Must be able to position and/or transfer an average adult patient and possess gross coordination sufficient to perform other patient care duties as required.
• Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing.
• Must be able to perform difficult manipulative skills such as IV insertion and IM injections.
• Environmental working conditions include exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue, contagious diseases and/or radioactive or other potentially hazardous materials.
