Job summary

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is seeking a Labor & Delivery nurse to provide skilled, compassionate care from routine to high-acuity cases. You will assess evolving patient conditions and coordinate with the multidisciplinary team to implement care plans that support the mother and baby.

The role requires 1–2 years of hospital Labor & Delivery experience, an active DC RN license, and BLS. C-EFM certification is preferred, with certification required within 12 months of hire.

Qualifications

• ADN, BSN, MSN or CNL from an accredited school of nursing.
• Active DC RN license and BLS required.
• 1–2 years of recent hospital Labor & Delivery experience.
• C-EFM certification preferred; if not certified, must obtain within 12 months.

About the Job

Join the nationally recognized Labor & Delivery Nursing team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital! The Perinatal Department at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital consists of a Labor & Delivery/Inpatient Antepartum Suite along with a Mother-Baby Couplet Postpartum Unit. Perinatal nurses assess the mother and neonate in a family-centered, holistic environment that supports the new family during this time of changing needs. MedStar Georgetown is a regional referral center for high-risk mothers and infants and enjoys a supportive and cooperative relationship with our Level IV NICU. Perinatal nurses collaborate with parenting services, antepartum/postpartum patient educators and lactation specialists to provide comprehensive patient and family education. Our diverse patient population includes both medically complex and uncomplicated patients. Perinatal nurses enjoy participating in collaborative governance at the unit and hospital level and are encouraged to attend a wide variety of educational opportunities, including AWHONN regional and national conferences.

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse on the Labor & Delivery Unit, you will provide skilled, compassionate care to patients and families across a spectrum of needs—from routine to highly complex. You will assess evolving patient conditions, identify actual and potential health concerns, and develop appropriate care plans. Interventions may be delivered directly or coordinated through collaboration with other members of the nursing team.

Schedule

• Full-Time 3 12-hour shifts
• Day/Night Rotating or Night Shift
• Six-week self-scheduling

Qualifications

• ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required. BSN preferred.
• At least one to two years of recent, hospital-based Labor & Delivery Clinical Nursing (RN) Experience required. High risk delivery center experience preferred.
• Active DC RN License and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required (AHA or American Red Cross).
• C-EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring from the National Certification Corporation (NCC) preferred; if not already certified, certification is required within 12 months from date of hire.

This position has a hiring range of USD $42.00 - USD $69.43 /Hr.
