Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Labor & Delivery Unit at the St. John’s Hospital located in Maplewood, MN.

St. John’s Hospital provides a warm, inviting atmosphere and humble staff. We are committed to delivering outstanding health care in our growing community! Our 184 bed facility offers a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.

This position is 48hours per two weeks on the DAY/EVENING shift, 8 hour shifts, every other weekend rotation.

About This Unit:

Our unit offers 11 labor and delivery beds plus 2 triage rooms. We have 1 water birth room and 2 OR suites. We average 200+ deliveries a month and manage many outpatients daily for antenatal testing. We have 18 postpartum rooms and our NICU provides care to 28 weeks and above.

Job Expectations:

The RN serves as the key leader of the interdependent team and is responsible to achieve patient and unit outcomes by coordinating the care for a group of patients. This includes: comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identification of outcomes based on the needs' assessment; establishing the plan of care; monitoring the progress; and modification of the plan of care as needed.

  • Demonstrates dedication to principles of the patient care model (Professional Partnership Model) and achieving the HealthEast nursing vision and strategy
  • Applies the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to coordinate outcome focused patient care. Throughout this process, also understands and incorporates holistic nursing theory based on Watson's Theory of Caring aligning with the practice standards of the American Holistic Nurses' Association whenever holistic therapy is offered
  • Communicates effectively with patient/family, physicians, the interdependent team, and other disciplines regarding the plan of care
  • Assesses and documents learning needs of the patient and family. Develops an individualized education plan for patients and families based on identified needs
  • Actively participates in crafting and implementing improvements at the point of care to achieve clinical quality, customer experience, nursing engagement, and efficiency and effectiveness outcomes
  • Complies with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, board of nursing requirements, patient safety requirements, infection control practices, and other established practice standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures
  • Coordinates the interdependent team while promoting collaborative teamwork and cooperation
  • Actively participates in the development and achievement of department goals (safety, cost, quality, patient experience, employee engagement)

Required Qualifications :

  • 1-2 years of Labor & Delivery Postpartum, Pediatrics or Doula Experience
  • Will Consider New Grad with OB Practicum, Capstone (200 hours) or Internship (120 hours or more) or final clinical rotation focused in L&D, Postpartum or NICU
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Valid RN License from MN Board of Nursing

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of job posting.
