Job summary

Ottumwa Regional Health Center, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks an RN for the Labor & Delivery/OB Unit. The role features 12-hour shifts, part-time nights (1900-0700), and every third weekend, in a 10-bed unit with dedicated staff and pediatric coverage.

You will assess patients, initiate nursing interventions, provide age-appropriate care, document care, and update the interdisciplinary plan. Requires an active RN license and nursing degree.

Qualifications

  • Current state RN license.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • BLS required; ACLS, PALS, NRP preferred.
  • Handle with Care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
  • Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
  • Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.
  • Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
  • Performs timely and accurate QI assessments.

MORE ABOUT OUR TEAM

The Labor & Delivery/OB team operates on a 1:1 nurse to patient ratio. This unit has 10 beds with an invitingly warm environment, dedicated medical staff, and pediatric coverage by a Board Certified provider. Full and part time employees in this unit rotate every third weekend and major holidays.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess an associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiopulmonary Life Support (ACLS) preferred
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
  • NRP preferred
  • Handle with Care preferred
