Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Intermediate Care Unit (Stepdown). The unit cares for patients needing closer monitoring than general med/surg but not full ICU care.

This full-time role includes a weekend-day shift with premium differential and a sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 for qualified applicants. The RN will perform nursing care using the nursing process, participate in a 11-week Transition to Practice program for new grads, and contribute

• Perform nursing care using the nursing process with critical thinking and clinical knowledge.
• Provide patient teaching, safety and coordination of care in IMC (Stepdown) unit.
• Monitor and manage patients requiring continuous monitoring and advanced nursing interventions.

The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.Department Overview:This 24 bed IMC Unit is designed for patients who are too ill for general medical/surgical, but do not need an intensive level of care. Patients on 4E require continuous monitoring and advanced nursing interventions including but not limited to ventilator management, tracheostomy care, telemetry monitoring, heparin infusions, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula and post-operative cardiac and vascular patient care.New Grads are Welcome to Apply!This unit welcomes new graduate nurses and experienced nurses moving into this specialty.
