Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). The IMCU is a 24-bed unit caring for higher-acuity neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and renal patients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
• Student in process of completing accredited nursing program.
• Registered Nursing license required; BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent nursing care using the nursing process.
• Coordinate care with IMCU team for higher-acuity patients.
• Adhere to magnet-designated facility standards and quality measures.

About the unit:

The IMCU is a 24 bed unit that provides care for higher acuity patients in neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and renal. Typical patients include respiratory failure/congestive heart failure, chronic trached ventilator patients, stroke and seizure patients, MI cardiac patients, Renal hemodialysis, and post op surgical patients with extensive wounds such as decubs, VAT’s, ortho, and ostomy. We are a magnet designated facility that is committed to working together as a team to provide quality healthcare.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. Education
