6 East is a 30-bed Adult Acute Care unit focused on quality improvement initiatives, professional development, and fostering an environment of teamwork and inclusivity. Specialized care is provided for patients with conditions such as total joint replacements, surgical spine interventions, ortho/trauma, urology interventions, and plastic surgery interventions.

The Charge Nurse is an experienced professional demonstrating clinical, leadership, and interpersonal skill proficiency. This role facilitates and supports the clinical and operational needs of inpatient care areas in partnership with management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Staffing/Throughput/Access: Leads daily operations to support safe throughput and access to care, ensuring appropriate staffing according to patient needs, and collaborates with leaders and staffing resources. Accurately documents in labor management software to promote fiscal stewardship.
2. Team Member Support: Acts as a resource for team members, ensuring adherence to policies and clinical practices, facilitating access to appropriate care levels, and supporting a calm, productive work environment. Assists team members with professional development and practice environment problem solving.
3. Patient Experience: Supports patient experience through team member needs, inpatient rounding, service recovery, and problem solving. Coordinates support services to address patient needs and promotes effective communication among team members, disciplines, and departments.
4. Environment of Care: Ensures the care environment meets safety and regulatory standards, facilitates team huddles and visual management tools, and supports quality improvement initiatives. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Position Compensation Range: $46.08 - $61.00 Hourly

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing or current enrollment in an accredited BSN/MSN program with completion within 5 years of hire.
• Experience: RN Clinician 2 or higher with 6 months on the unit or prior Charge Nurse experience elsewhere.
• Licensure: Valid RN license in Virginia; AHA BLS certification required.

Physical Demands

Prolonged standing, frequent movement, lifting/pushing/pulling 20-50 lbs, and exposure to chemicals, blood, and infectious materials. Good communication, auditory, and visual skills required.
