6 East is a 30-bed Adult Acute Care unit focused on quality improvement, professional development, and fostering teamwork and inclusivity. Specialized care is provided for patients with conditions such as total joint replacements, surgical spine interventions, ortho/trauma, urology, and plastic surgery interventions.

The Charge Nurse is an experienced professional demonstrating clinical, leadership, and interpersonal skills. They facilitate and support the clinical and operational needs of inpatient care areas in partnership with management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Staffing/Throughput/Access: Lead daily operations supporting safe throughput and access to care; ensure appropriate staffing; document accurately in labor management software.
2. Team Member Support: Serve as a resource, facilitate policy adherence, support professional development, and promote a calm, productive work environment.
3. Patient Experience: Support patient experience initiatives, coordinate support services, and promote effective communication among team members, patients, and visitors.
4. Environment of Care: Ensure safety and regulatory standards, facilitate team huddles, and support quality goals.

Position Compensation Range: $46.08 - $61.00 Hourly

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing or enrolled in an accredited BSN/MSN program to be completed within 5 years of hire.
• Experience: RN Clinician 2 or higher with 6 months on the unit or prior Charge Nurse experience.
• Licensure: Licensed Registered Nurse in Virginia; AHA BLS certification.

Physical Demands

Prolonged standing, frequent movement, lifting 20-50 lbs., exposure to chemicals, blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases.
