Job summary

Newport Healthcare in Minneapolis seeks a Registered Nurse to manage the care of adolescent and young adult patients with psychiatric and mental health disorders in our inpatient hospital. You will perform assessments, monitor daily functioning, and provide individualized interventions.

The ideal candidate is an RN licensed in Minnesota with BSN preferred, strong critical thinking, multitasking, and trauma-informed communication skills.

Qualifications

• RN licensure with Minnesota State Board of Nursing required.
• BSN preferred.
• Strong critical thinking and ability to make fast, safe judgments in stressful situations.
• Proficient multitasking and clear written and verbal communication.
• Competency in using basic computer tools and electronic health records (HER).

Responsibilities

• Administer psychosocial, physical, and behavioral assessments and provide individualized interventions.
• Monitor daily functioning and assist in mental health symptom management.
• Communicate with patients and families with curiosity and compassion.
• Provide care non-judgmentally sensitive to developmental age and family diversity.
• Track and share confidential medical and psychiatric information in documentation.
• Administer medications and perform labs/tests (e.g., EKG, UDS, Genesight, HCG).

What You'll Do

Psychiatric/Mental Health RNs at our inpatient hospital in Minneapolis are responsible for managing the care of adolescent patients and/or young adult patients experiencing psychiatric/mental health disorders. Key responsibilities include:

• Administering psychosocial, physical, and behavioral assessments related to specific conditions and providing individualized interventions based on these assessments
• Monitoring patients' daily functioning and assisting in mental health symptom management
• Communicating with patients and families using curiosity, compassion, and active listening
• Providing care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the patient's developmental age and to the patient's and family's diversity
• Tracking and sharing confidential medical and psychiatric information, verbally and in written documentation
• Administering medications and performing interventions such as including lab draws, EKG, UDS, Genesight, and HcG testing

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a Nursing Degree (BSN is preferred, current licensure as an RN with the Minnesota State Board of Nursing is required.)

Compensation Range: $37.92 to $58.68 depending on education and experience
