Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking an Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver exceptional patient care across the infusion unit. You will assess patients, administer chemotherapy and other medications, start IVs, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.

Ideal candidates hold an accredited nursing degree (Associates or Bachelors) and RN licensure, with a willingness to obtain required certifications.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Associates degree or Bachelors degree in Nursing.
• RN licensure is required in the state.
• Experience in infusion nursing or oncology is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment and creates a plan of care.
• Administers chemotherapy and other medications; starts IVs and performs phlebotomies as needed.
• Maintains a safe, therapeutic environment and supports patient education.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by:

• Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status
• Implementing clinical nursing interventions
• Having a highly diverse medical skillset
• Developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes
• Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment

Essential Functions

• Conducts and analyzes initial and ongoing patient assessment, creates plan of care, implements treatments and evaluates treatment effectiveness
• Restores, supports, promotes, rehabilitates, or palliates to maintain the physiologic, psychologic and psychosocial stability of patients across the lifespan
• Administers chemotherapy and other medication, starts IV's, transfuses blood and blood products and performs therapeutic phlebotomies
• Anticipates and responds with confidence and adapts to rapidly changing patient conditions
• Assists in creating an environment that promotes educational growth opportunities for nursing peers
• Other duties as assigned

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Associates degree or Bachelors degree in Nursing

Certifications

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care; ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support acceptable in lieu of BLS)
• ONS Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy Certification (required within 6 months of hire)

Experience

• One (1) year of medical/surgical or oncology experience (preferred, not required)

Training

• EPIC Electronic Health Record training (preferred, not required)
