Available nights include 7:00 PM–7:30 AM with self-scheduling, $3.00/hour float pay, 18% night differential, and $3.00/hour weekend differential.

Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license in the state of practice or equivalent license.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• For home health: personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and active auto insurance.
• Behavioral health roles may require fingerprint clearance and criminal history affidavit.
• Maintain clinical performance competencies through annual validations.

As a SWAT RN (Specialized Workforce and Transport), you will be an essential resource to the entire hospital, responding to all emergency calls, rapid responses, and Code Blues, and serving as a clinical expert across Adult ICU, PICU, NICU, and WIS. You will primarily work at Banner University Medical Center Tucson, with occasional floating to Banner University Medical Center South Tucson.

Available nights include 3/12 rotations from 7:00 PM–7:30 AM. You may also use our self‑scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage. Additional compensation includes $3.00 /hour float pay, an 18% /hour night shift differential, and a flat $3.00 /hour weekend shift differential.

Position Summary

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and the standards of professional nursing practice. It is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by themselves or others under their direction, utilizing specialized knowledge and judgment to assess data and plan appropriate care for patients of all ages.

Core Functions

1. Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; review patient history, physical exams, diagnostic and laboratory data; complete assessments and reassessments per policy.
2. Formulate and initiate a plan of care, including a discharge plan, based on assessment data and patient/family input; develop realistic, measurable goals; collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.
3. Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, and delegation; provide nursing supervision, ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and physician orders.
4. Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed; monitor progress toward goals and outcomes.
5. Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record; ensure documentation is legible, timely, and policy‑compliant.
6. Deliver evidence‑based care; participate in research, shared leadership, education, and orientation activities to promote professional development.
7. Contribute to societal health through activities that enhance patient outcomes and participate in national nursing quality improvement initiatives.
8. In some roles, supervise staff and manage department workflow.
9. Interact with all staff levels, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts, including community providers and agencies; provide spiritual support in collaboration with clergy; synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim/compact RN license).
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting, with recent experience in the specialty area.
• For home health: personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and active auto insurance coverage.
• Behavioral health positions may require an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit.
• Maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area through annual validations.
