Job summary

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks an experienced RN to provide direct patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). You will contribute to individualized care plans, document care, monitor patient status, and collaborate across disciplines to coordinate transfers and discharges.

The role requires an Associate's degree in nursing (Bachelor's preferred), a current RN license in Kentucky, and BCLS; ACLS and PALS are beneficial.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in nursing required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Current RN license in state of practice.
• Active Kentucky license (single state or compact) required; if relocating, licensure must be updated to the new PSOR before employment.
• BCLS required.
• ACLS and PALS certifications indicated; Handle with Care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care in the ICU using the nursing process per practice standards.
• Performs plan of care interventions including medication administration and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care provided and monitors patient condition.
• Collaborates with care team and communicates with physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and supports psychosocial needs.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education efforts.
• Maintains regular attendance and adapts to flexible shifts as needed.

How you'll contribute

• Provides direct patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patients and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Participate in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
