Job summary

North Alabama Shoals Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for its Behavioral Health Department. The role emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered mental health care with collaboration across interdisciplinary teams.

The RN will deliver plan-of-care interventions, monitor patients, and educate families while coordinating care with physicians and other caregivers. Applicants should hold a current RN license and have at least one year of nursing experience; Basic Life Support is required

How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

You'll make an impact by utilizing your specialized plan-of-care intervention and serving as a patient-care innovator. You will shape exceptional patient journeys every day and leverage your skills and our cutting-edge technology to directly impact patient wellbeing.

  • Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
  • Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs).
  • Assesses learning needs and delivers age-/culture-appropriate patient and family education.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Participates in unit and organizational performance improvement and required continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may be assigned on-call.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current state RN license. Additional requirements include:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 14 days of hire.
  • Requires one year of nursing experience.
