The Free-Standing Emergency Room is a 13-bed facility with a physician and PA on staff, a strong teamwork culture, and 24/7 emergency access. Sentara provides comprehensive benefits and ongoing orientation for qualified RNs.

Qualifications

• RN degree or diploma required.
• BSN/MSN preferred.
• Active RN license required.
• ACLS/PALS/BLS certs prior to orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent nursing care using the nursing process.
• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Collaborate with physicians, PAs, and ED staff to ensure timely care.
• Educate patients and families and promote safety and quality.

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Freestanding Emergency Department in Charlottesville, VA!

Shifts Available

Full Time Nights (three 12-hour shifts)

Up to $20,000 sign on bonus for qualified full-time candidates

The Free-Standing Emergency Room

The Free-Standing Emergency Room is a 13-bed facility seeing about 60 patients a day with a physician and PA on staff as well as additional support including ED Techs. This well supported department is centered around teamwork and patient- first mindset. In an emergency, quick access to skilled care makes all the difference. That's why Sentara offers access to emergency services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our management team has been long standing and diligent about building a cohesive and dedicated care team to serve the Charlottesville, VA area.

Required Call

Full Time nurses have 16 hours of required call per 6 weeks. Part Time Nurses have 12 hours of required call per 6 weeks.

Experienced Nurse Orientation

Experienced critical care nurses can expect an orientation period of 10 weeks on the unit.

Registered Nursing Responsibilities

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas

Education

Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)

Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

Registered nursing License (Required)

BLS required within 90 days of hire

2 years of Emergency Room Experience (Preferred)

Critical care experience in hospital required

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $41.93 - $61.01 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
