Job summary

UTHealth Quitman Hospital in Quitman, TX is seeking a night shift, full-time Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse to join our care-focused team.

You will deliver high-quality nursing care across age groups, collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary staff, and ensure patient safety and comfort while adhering to hospital policies.

Experience in emergency settings is preferred; Texas RN licensure and up-to-date certifications are required, with orientation and onboarding support available.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Texas required or pending licensure transfer.
• BLS must be obtained within 14 days of hire.
• ACLS, TNCC, and PALS or ENPC required before end of orientation.
• NIHSS certification required before end of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care from newborn to geriatric using a collaborative approach.
• Prioritize care and implement plans per nursing process and physician orders.
• Deliver care in alignment with hospital policies and protocols.

Get to Know Your Team:

• UT Health Quitman offers 25 private rooms, a 24-hour Level IV trauma center and Level III stroke center, surgical suites, advanced diagnostics, swing bed care, cardiopulmonary rehab, on-site physician clinics, and a sleep lab.

Responsibilities

• Administers care to a patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric and utilizes a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to ensure that each patient receives nursing care appropriate to his/her illness or injury.
• Prioritizes patient care need based on the patient assessment and uses the nursing process to implement a plan of care appropriate to each patient's needs.
• Delivers care consistent with physician's orders and treatment protocols and in accordance with hospital and departmental policy.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Degree in nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing
• Current Texas RN license
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) before end of orientation
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) before end of orientation
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) before end of orientation
• NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification before the end of orientation

Preferred Job Requirements:

• One year of emergency nursing experience
