Job summary

Wythe County Community Hospital in Wytheville, VA is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department. Full-time with rotating weekends; mid-shifts around 11a–11p, flexible within mid shifts.

The ER features 14 beds with a Fast Track area and a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, with strong emphasis on teamwork and safe, compassionate care. Applicants should hold a VA RN license (single-state or compact) and obtain BLS within 30 days, ACLS and PALS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license.
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications within specified timelines.
• ER experience preferred and strong assessment/documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
• Performs timely documentation related to medical necessity in the record.
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan.
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments.

Wythe County Community Hospital (WCCH) ER is a 14 bed ER with a Fast Track area to accommodate up to 8 patients. We are Certified as a Stroke Ready Facility with The Joint Commission. The ER nurse patient ration is 1:4. The ER is staffed with Nurse Techs, Monitor Techs, and RNs. We believe in a work life balance with our employees while providing our community the care they need. How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions

What we're looking for

Applicants should have an active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.

Additional requirements include:

• At least one year of previous experience in ER as a RN strongly preferred.
• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS within 90 days of hire.
• Handle with Care within one year of hire.

Hourly Range: $28.94 - $39.06
