UH Parma Medical Center Emergency Department is a Level III Trauma Center. The ED is a 32‑bed unit with 24 beds on the main side including 23 monitor beds and 2 trauma bays. The Super Track area has 8 beds run by an Advanced Practice Provider. Our ED team is a giant family. We thrive on teamwork! If it weren’t for teamwork, the ED would struggle getting through the day. We spend a lot of time together, both in and outside of work. Our ED likes to joke around and have fun together while caring for our patients.

A Brief Overview

Provides safe, efficient, age‑specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

Education

• Diploma in Nursing or
• ADN Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)
• BSN Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
• MSN Master's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of nursing process and practice. (Required proficiency)
• Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (i.e. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices). (Required proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
