Job summary

Shasta Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department. You will provide direct patient care, perform assessments, and guide patient/family teaching while upholding professional standards.

Requirements include an active U.S. RN license, BLS/ACLS/PALS or ENPC, and at least one year of ER experience in an acute care setting. BSN and CEN are preferred. Night shift, full-time with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS/ENPC certifications on hire and maintained.
• Minimum of one year ER staff nurse experience in an acute care hospital; ER setting preferred.
• CEN certification preferred.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process.
• Direct patient/family teaching and supervision of nursing staff.
• Communicate patient condition changes and test results with the physician.
• Maintain EMTALA compliance and patient privacy.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department. He / She communicates with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and sypmtomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current and valid state RN License.2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.3. Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current. 4. Current PALS (AHA) certificate and/or ENPC 90 days upon hire and maintain current. 5. Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire. 6. Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.7. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.8. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):

1. In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current. 2. EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.3. Non OB facilities: NRP (AHA) certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.4. Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.

Benefits may vary based on collective bargaining agreement requirements and/or the employment status, i.e. full-time or part-time. The current compensation range for this role is $43.28 to $71.14. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
