Shasta Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department to deliver safe, high-quality care in a fast-paced setting. You will perform nursing processes, assess patients, and coordinate with doctors during night shifts.

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in the state.
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS required and maintained.
  • ENPC or PALS required within 90 days of hire.
  • Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum 1 year ED/acute care experience; CEN preferred.
  • BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe patient care using the nursing process in the Emergency Department.
  • Deliver direct patient care within scope of practice and supervise patient/family teaching.
  • Guide and supervise other nursing staff while maintaining professional standards.
  • Communicate changes in patient condition with physicians and document results.
  • Ensure EMTALA compliance and report child/adult abuse when required.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department. He / She communicates with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and sypmtomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current PALS (AHA) certificate and/or ENPC 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Facility Specific Requirements (facility May Require Items Listed Below)
  • In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current.
  • EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
  • Non OB facilities: NRP (AHA) certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.

Benefits may vary based on collective bargaining agreement requirements and/or the employment status, i.e. full-time or part-time. The current compensation range for this role is $43.28 to $71.14. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
