Job summary

West Anaheim Medical Center in California is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its ED/Telemetry team. You will deliver safe patient care using the nursing process, coordinate with physicians, and educate patients and families.

The role requires current California RN license, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and 1 year ER/acute care experience; BSN preferred. Candidates must adhere to EMTALA and protect patient privacy. Full-time, day shifts with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certificates current at hire.
• Minimum of one year experience as staff nurse RN in acute care; ER experience preferred.
• CEN certification and related emergency competencies are appreciated.
• BSN degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care using the nursing process (Assessment, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation).
• Provide direct patient care within Telemetry; guide patient/family teaching and duties of other staff.
• Communicate changes in patient condition with physicians and document results.
• Respond quickly to changes in condition and ensure EMTALA compliance.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Collaborate with the Emergency Department team to ensure quality care.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department. They communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility May Require Items Listed Below)

• In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current.
• EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
• Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.

The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
