Job summary

UT Health East Texas is seeking a night shift, PRN Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) in Henderson, TX. The role supports a Level IV trauma center with an ED and acute stroke capability, requiring responsiveness for diverse patient populations.

Applicants must hold a nursing degree from an accredited school, a current Texas RN license, and BLS, ACLS, PALS/ENPC and NIHSS certifications by orientation completion. Two years of emergency or acute care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current Texas RN license.
• BLS certification within 14 days of hire and ACLS before end of orientation.
• PALS or ENPC before end of orientation.
• NIHSS certification before end of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Administers care to a patient population from newborn to geriatric using a multidisciplinary approach.
• Prioritizes patient care needs based on assessment and implements a care plan.
• Delivers care in accordance with physician orders, protocols, and hospital policy.

Get to Know Your Team:

• UT Health Henderson features 41 operational beds, a 24-hour ED, designated as a Level IV trauma center and acute stroke ready facility with surgical suites, advanced diagnostic technology, a maternity unit, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, wound healing center and an AASM-accredited sleep center.

Responsibilities

• Administers care to a patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric and utilizes a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to ensure that each patient receives nursing care appropriate to his/her illness or injury.
• Prioritizes patient care need based on the patient assessment and uses the nursing process to implement a plan of care appropriate to each patient’s needs.
• Delivers care consistent with physician’s orders and treatment protocols and in accordance with hospital and departmental policy.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Degree in nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current Texas RN license.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) required within 14 days of hire and before providing direct patient care.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required before end of orientation.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) required before end of orientation.
• NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification required before end of orientation.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• One year of emergency nursing experience
• Two years of acute care nursing experience
• CEN
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
