Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Associates Degree in Nursing with BSN program acceptance/enrollment and signed agreement
  • Technical diploma in nursing with BSN program acceptance/enrollment and signed agreement
  • Enrolled in a nursing bridge program toward MSN
  • BSN-equivalency verified or signed agreement
  • Current Texas Board of Nursing license
  • Current BLS certification from American Heart Association
  • Minimum 1 year of professional nursing experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs and documents patient/family assessments across bio-physical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual and environmental needs
  • Collects and analyzes data from the medical record to coordinate patient care
  • Identify teaching, discharge planning, growth, nutrition, functional status and pain management needs
  • Update plan of care based on new information and conditions; communicate to health care team
  • Discuss plan of care with patient/family and document appropriately
  • Evaluate patient response and progress toward outcomes; document results
  • Create and document individualized teaching plans for patient/family
  • Advocate for patient and collaborate with health care team
  • Administer and document medications and treatments timely
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn and apply new knowledge to improve performance

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Associates Degree in Nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement
Technical diploma in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement
Nursing bridge program enrolled toward MSN
Verified BSN-equivalency or signed agreement
Current licensure with the Texas Board of Nursing
Current BLS from the American Heart Association
1 year of professional nursing experience

We are searching for a Staff Nurse—someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position you’ll provide quality nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate care in a manner that incorporates family-centered principles and cost-effective care. We need someone who can collect and analyze data from the medical record in order to coordinate patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs and documents assessment of the patient/family including bio-physical, psychosocial, developmental (age-appropriate), cultural, spiritual, and environmental needs in an organized and systematic manner
  • Collects and analyzes data from the medical record in order to coordinate patient care
  • Identifies patient's needs pertaining to patient teaching, discharge planning, growth and development, nutritional screening, functional status, and pain management
  • Re-prioritizes and updates plan of care based on new information and changes in the patient's condition; communicates this information to other health care team members and documents in the medical record
  • Discusses the patient's plan of care with family and/or significant individuals and documents in the medical record as appropriate
  • Evaluates and documents patient's response to the care provided and recognizes the patient's progress toward meeting the desired outcomes and discusses with the patient/family
  • Formulates, implements, and documents individualized teaching plan based on patient/family assessment
  • Serves as a patient/family advocate while caring for patients and collaborating with other health care team members
  • Administers and documents medications and treatments in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge and utilize new skills needed to improve individual, team, and organizational performances
