QUALIFICATIONS: The following outlines the general duties, responsibilities, and competencies necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. This should not be considered an exhaustive list, and specific duties may change at the department manager's discretion based on organizational needs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Candidates must be graduates of an accredited nursing school, licensed as an RN in Maryland, and have completed required hospital, nursing, and unit orientations, including BLS and medication certifications. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency at the Clinical Nurse I level and meet eligibility for Clinical Nurse II. ACLS is required (PACU, ICCU, ED), and NALS (Obstetrical-Nursery) or eligibility for course completion within six months is necessary. Specialty certification is preferred. Telemetry nurses must pass a basic arrhythmia exam, recognize critical rhythms, and seek intervention when needed.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: Licensed RN in Maryland, BLS certification required. ACLS required for specific units, NRP required for Obstetrical-Nursery or eligible within six months. Specialty certifications are preferred.
