Job summary

Advocate Health’s Aurora St. Luke’s Emergency Department is seeking tenured nursing professionals to join a large, high-volume ED with specialized stroke and heart care programs.

The role emphasizes comprehensive patient care using evidence-based practice, with strong emphasis on teamwork and leadership in the patient care continuum. The position offers a 36-hour week schedule with multiple day shifts, robust orientation, mentoring, and ongoing education benefits within a mission-driven health

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing.
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Where You Will Work

Our newly renovated emergency department is one of the largest EDs in the state. We have 60 care spaces where we care for over 200 patients daily. St. Luke’s Hospital is a quaternary care site with designations as a comprehensive stroke center, trauma level 3 center, and chest pain accredited.

We’re Looking For

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, twisting, and lifting throughout the workday. Must safely lift up to 35 pounds and perform patient handling tasks, including pushing/pulling up to 30 pounds and assisting with 150-pound sliding transfers. Requires functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine motor skills for clinical procedures, as well as the ability to operate equipment foot controls. Must be able to respond quickly to changing patient conditions and perform patient safety interventions, including verbal de‑escalation and restraints when necessary. Exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and hazardous waste may occur; appropriate protective equipment must be used. Physical Abilities Testing and additional department‑specific requirements may apply.
