Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department at the New Brunswick campus. The role focuses on patient assessment, safe medication administration, and collaborative care in a fast-paced ED setting. The position requires an active NJ RN license, BLS, and 1 year of ER or acute care RN experience.

A BSN is preferred and related certifications such as PALS/TNCC/ACLS are valued. Part-time night schedule with 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing.
• BLS Certification required.
• 1 year of Emergency Room or acute care RN experience preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred or to be completed within 5 years of hire.
• PALS, TNCC and ACLS preferred or to be obtained within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes.
• Administer medications and provide hands-on care grounded in clinical judgment.
• Collaborate with physicians and advanced providers for timely care decisions.
• Educate patients and families clearly and compassionately.
• Document accurately in the electronic medical record for continuity of care.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and promote teamwork.
• Engage in continuing education and professional growth.

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS Certification with at least 1 year of Emergency Room or acute care RN experience required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is strongly preferred or must be completed within 5 years upon hire. PALS, TNCC and ACLS Certification is preferred or must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Prior 2-3 years of RN experience within Emergency Room or acute care is highly preferred and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers a Part-Time Night Shift schedule from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Monday - Friday with weekend and holiday rotations, 24 hours per week, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
