Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in New Brunswick, NJ, is seeking an experienced RN for the Emergency Department on a PART-TIME night shift, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with weekend and holiday rotations.

The RN will perform comprehensive assessments, administer medications, collaborate with physicians, document in EPIC, and participate in interdisciplinary rounds. A NJ RN license and BLS are required; BSN is preferred and 1 year ER experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Minimum 1 year RN experience in Emergency Department or acute care.
• BSN strongly preferred or must be completed within 5 years of hire.
• PALS, TNCC and ACLS preferred or must be obtained within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes.
• Provide safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands-on care.
• Serve as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers.
• Provide clear, compassionate education to patients and families.
• Ensure accurate documentation within the electronic medical record.
• Contribute during interdisciplinary rounds for coordinated care.

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS Certification with at least 1 year of Emergency Room or acute care RN experience required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is strongly preferred or must be completed within 5 years upon hire. PALS, TNCC and ACLS Certification is preferred or must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Prior 2-3 years of RN experience within Emergency Room or acute care is highly preferred and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers a Part-Time Night Shift schedule from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Monday - Friday with weekend and holiday rotations, 24 hours per week, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
