Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago is seeking a Registered Nurse for the DOU, delivering safe, patient-centered care overnight. You will perform the nursing process, coordinate with physicians, and educate patients and families while upholding privacy standards.

Required: active RN license; 1+ year acute care experience; BLS, with ACLS preferred. BSN preferred. This full-time night shift offers a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Current valid State Registered Nurse License.
• Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current preferred.
• Minimum of one-year experience as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice and guide patient/family teaching.
• Direct and guide other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the DOU.
• Communicate changes in patient condition with physicians, including hemodynamic monitoring and diagnostic results.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality and respond quickly to changes in condition.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the DOU. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients. He/She communicates with the physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and abnormal results and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
