Job summary

PIH Health Whittier Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) Dialysis Nurse to provide dialysis for acute inpatients per MD orders, policy, and CMS guidelines. You will monitor patients during dialysis and communicate changes to the patient, the primary RN, and the MD.

You will supervise dialysis technicians, delegate appropriately, and collaborate with the nursing and medical staff to determine clinical status and dialysis priority. Current BLS is required; CNN certification encouraged.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• 2+ years acute care experience and/or previous dialysis nursing experience.
• CNN (Certified Nephrology Nurse) certification encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Provide dialysis (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis) for acute inpatients under MD orders.
• Monitor patients during dialysis; communicate changes to the patient, the primary RN, and the MD; supervise dialysis technicians; delegate appropriately.

The Registered Nurse (RN) Dialysis Nurse is responsible and accountable for providing dialysis (hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis) for acute inpatients, in accordance with MD orders, hospital policy, and CMS guidelines. Dialysis Registered Nurse will monitor patients during dialysis, assess any emergent changes in condition and communicate with the patient, primary RN, and MD. RN will supervise dialysis technicians and delegate appropriately. In addition, RN will collaborate with the nursing and medical staff to determine the patient’s clinical status and priority for dialysis treatment.
