Job summary

PIH Health Downey Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) in Dialysis to provide comprehensive hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis care for acute inpatients. The RN will monitor patients, interpret changes, and coordinate with the medical team to prioritize dialysis treatment while supervising dialysis technicians.

The role requires current BLS, 2+ years of acute care and/or dialysis nursing experience, and strong leadership and communication skills to ensure high-quality

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• 2+ years acute care and/or dialysis nursing experience.
• Ability to monitor dialysis patients and respond to emergent changes.
• Leadership abilities and delegation to dialysis technicians.
• Strong communication with patients, families and MDs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise dialysis technicians and delegate tasks as needed.
• Monitor patients during dialysis and assess changes in condition.
• Communicate with patient, primary RN and MD regarding care plan.
• Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to determine clinical status and dialysis priority.

Job description

The Registered Nurse (RN) Dialysis Nurse is responsible and accountable for providing dialysis (hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis) for acute inpatients, in accordance with MD orders, hospital policy, and CMS guidelines. Dialysis Registered Nurse will monitor patients during dialysis, assess any emergent changes in condition and communicate with the patient, primary RN, and MD. RN will supervise dialysis technicians and delegate appropriately. In addition, RN will collaborate with the nursing and medical staff to determine the patient’s clinical status and priority for dialysis treatment.
