Job summary

EDCare in Denver is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Residential team. This role provides hands-on nursing care within a collaborative, interdisciplinary treatment setting, typically on a 3-12 hour shift schedule with weekend differential.

The RN will care for eating-disorder patients, perform clinical duties, and coordinate with physicians and milieu staff to support safety, stabilization and recovery.

Qualifications

• Active Colorado RN license or eligibility within 60 days.
• CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver’s license with no major driving violations in last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care on the residential unit with the interdisciplinary team.
• Perform phlebotomy, meds administration, EKGs, vitals, and patient weights.
• Order standing labs per protocol and notify provider of results.
• Educate patients on medications and medical complications of eating disorders.
• Maintain accurate clinical paperwork and treatment records.

EDCare is a comprehensive eating disorder treatment organization providing compassionate, evidence-based care through a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach. Our team brings together medical providers, nurses, therapists, dietitians, and milieu professionals to support the complex medical and behavioral health needs of our patients.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Residential team. This role provides hands-on nursing care while working closely with an interdisciplinary treatment team to support patient safety, stabilization, and recovery. The position offers a three 12-hour shift schedule, providing greater flexibility and work-life balance, along with a weekend shift differential for eligible shifts. Shifts

3-12 hour shifts, typically including a weekend day.

Shift Differentials: $2.50/hour for weekend days, $4.00/hour for weeknd day, $6.00/hour for weekend nights.

Summary of Major Functions

Provide nursing care to EDCare patients in conjunction with supervising physician. Complete daily nursing duties associated with eating disordered patients.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Daily nursing duties, including specimen collection, point of care lab testing, phlebotomy, medication administration, following through with orders, performing EKGs, observing and recording weights, vitals, bathroom observation, among other necessary patient care.
2. Order standing labs per protocol, record and notify provider of findings of relevant diagnostic and laboratory tests; follows up with necessary labs; shares results of labs with provider, escalating priority results with appropriate staff.
3. Address patients’ medical concerns and inquiries; listen and communicate by providing clinical information in a clear and timely manner; requesting information and resources needed to provide care.
4. Collaborate on care delivery by including milieu staff, physicians, interdisciplinary team and management in both service and patient care improvements; treat all members with respect; demonstrate the highest levels of ethical and professional conduct.
5. Provide knowledgeable and thorough nursing coverage in conjunction with other medical staff. Work assigned shifts, according to FTE.
6. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of appropriate medications. Regularly reconciles prescribed medications for assigned patients and notify providers of any concerns.
7. Adheres to Infection Control standards for EDCare. Educates and adheres to regulatory bodies, including but not limited to The Joint Commission, CDC & OSHA regarding monitoring infections in staff and patients.
8. Provides patient education regarding side-effects and efficacy of certain medications. Provides patient education about medical complications of eating disorders.
9. Timely completion and accuracy of clinical paperwork: nursing shift assessment, weights and vital signs, treatment plan, progress notes, etc.
10. Assists milieu staff with milieu management, among any other assistance needed.
11. Adheres to, complies, and demonstrates support for the mission and values of EDCare.
12. Ensure confidentiality of patient information by creating and maintaining a secure and trusting environment.
13. Provide and accept feedback in a respectful manner from all staff. Demonstrates teamwork, open communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary team.
14. Transport patients to and from programming and on outings when needed, via 15 passenger van.
15. Covers call, as scheduled, with direction of Director of Nursing.
16. Other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Colorado within 60 days of hire required.
• Obtain CPR Certification within 90 days of hire required.
• Valid Drivers license with no major driving violations in last 5 years required.
• Experience treating patients with eating disorders preferred.
• Experience in a mental or behavioral health setting preferred.
• Good oral and written communication skills preferred.

Computer Skills

• Minimum of beginner skills in Microsoft Office suite.
• Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within an electronic medical records system.
• Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within various software products.

Physical Demands and Environment

Sitting frequently, standing occasionally, walking occasionally, talking frequently, hearing frequently, seeing constantly, reaching with arms and hands occasionally, crouching occasionally and using fingers intricately. This position requires lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds rarely.
