Shifts: 7:00a‑7:30p (Days); 7:00p‑7:30a (Nights)
Shift Differentials: $2.50/hr on weekend days; $4.00/hr on weekday nights; $6.00/hr on weekend nights.
Salary Range: $35.00‑$48.00 hourly
Location: Denver, CO 80246

Summary of Major Functions

Provide nursing care to EDCare patients in conjunction with supervising physician. Complete daily nursing duties associated with eating‑disordered patients.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Daily nursing duties, including specimen collection, point‑of‑care lab testing, phlebotomy, medication administration, following through with orders, performing EKGs, observing and recording weights, vitals, bathroom observation, and other necessary patient care.
  2. Order standing labs per protocol, record and notify provider of relevant diagnostic and laboratory findings, follow up with labs, and share results with provider, escalating priority results with appropriate staff.
  3. Address patients’ medical concerns and inquiries; listen and communicate clinical information in a clear and timely manner; request information and resources needed to provide care.
  4. Collaborate on care delivery by including milieu staff, physicians, interdisciplinary team, and management in service and patient care improvements; treat all members with respect and demonstrate the highest levels of ethical and professional conduct.
  5. Provide knowledgeable and thorough nursing coverage in conjunction with other medical staff. Work assigned shifts according to FTE.
  6. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of appropriate medications. Regularly reconcile prescribed medications for assigned patients and notify providers of any concerns.
  7. Adhere to Infection Control standards for EDCare; educate and adhere to regulatory bodies, including but not limited to the Joint Commission, CDC, and OSHA, regarding monitoring infections in staff and patients.
  8. Provide patient education regarding side‑effects and efficacy of medications and medical complications of eating disorders.
  9. Ensure timely completion and accuracy of clinical paperwork: nursing shift assessment, weights and vital signs, treatment plan, progress notes, etc.
  10. Assist milieu staff with milieu management and any other assistance needed.
  11. Adhere to, comply with, and demonstrate support for the mission and values of EDCare.
  12. Ensure confidentiality of patient information by creating and maintaining a secure and trusting environment.
  13. Provide and accept feedback in a respectful manner from all staff; demonstrate teamwork, open communication, and collaboration with interdisciplinary team.
  14. Transport patients to and from programming and outings when needed, via a 15‑passenger van.
  15. Cover call as scheduled, with direction of Director of Nursing.
  16. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Colorado within 60 days of hire.
  • CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid drivers license with no major driving violations in the last 5 years.
  • Experience treating patients with eating disorders preferred.
  • Experience in a mental or behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Good oral and written communication skills preferred.
Computer Skills
  • Minimum of beginner skills in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within an electronic medical records system.
  • Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within various software products.
Physical Demands and Environment

Sitting, standing, walking frequently during a 12‑hour shift; talking frequently; hearing frequently; seeing constantly; reaching with arms and hands frequently; crouching occasionally; using fingers intricately. Lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds rarely.

Environmental Conditions

99% inside, 99% normal temperature, 99% normal noise as expected in a medical office environment.
