RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Critical Care Float Pool at University Hospital New Brunswick. This part-time night shift role focuses on comprehensive patient assessments, safe medication administration, and collaborative care with a multidisciplinary team.

Ideal candidates hold an NJ RN license, BLS, and 1+ year CCU experience, with BSN preferred. EMR experience (EPIC) is expected, and ACLS/board certifications are valued.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification.
• At least 1 year of critical care RN experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing strongly preferred or to be completed within 5 years of hire.
• National Board Certification and ACLS preferred or to be obtained within 6 months of employment.
• Prior 2–3 years of RN experience in critical care preferred and familiarity with EMR (EPIC).

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes.
• Provide safe, evidence-based medications, treatments and hands-on care.
• Collaborate with physicians and advanced providers for timely, coordinated care decisions.
• Educate patients and families to keep them informed and prepared for the next phase of care.
• Document accurately in the EMR to promote continuity and safety.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds to drive seamless communication.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS Certification with at least 1 year of critical care RN experience required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is strongly preferred or must be completed within 5 years upon hire. National Board Certification and ACLS Certification is preferred or must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Prior 2-3 years of RN experience within critical care is highly preferred and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers a Part-Time Night Shift schedule from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Monday - Friday with weekend and holiday rotations, 36 hours per week, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
