Job Description

UC Health is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse (RN-CNI) for CVICU for the flex shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The Registered Nurse (RN-CNI) will support the Medical Center's 24-bed CVICU, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care, and according to policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN-CNI) is a licensed professional responsible for providing culturally sensitive, age-specific patient care using knowledge from biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing complex cardiac patients undergoing surgeries like CABG, valvuloplasty, valve replacement, heart transplant, VAD implantation, and thoracic procedures such as VATS and thoracotomies.
  • Providing non-surgical care including ECMO, post-arrest hypothermia, and management of acute with mechanical support and acute on chronic heart failure.
  • Staffing 1:1 for post-op open heart procedures.
  • Collecting data, following protocols, and making clinical decisions based on knowledge and patient assessment.
  • Coordinating interdisciplinary care plans and communicating effectively with team members and patients' families.
  • Providing treatment instructions and involving families in care.
  • Responding appropriately to behavioral health, psychological, and cultural needs.
  • Demonstrating critical thinking, accountability, and flexibility.
  • Documenting nursing care accurately and concisely.
  • Mentoring new staff and contributing to professional development.
Qualifications
