  • The Neuroscience ICU utilizes a teamwork model to provide high-acuity care, working closely with all team members.
  • UCMC is named the Preferred Neuroscience institution in the area and is a Level 4 Epilepsy Center.
  • The ICU offers opportunities to expand academic knowledge and serves as the region's first comprehensive stroke center.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Associate’s Degree is the minimum requirement.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Current OH RN License.
  • Current BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally based and age-specific patient care, utilizing biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences.
  • Prepare, implement, evaluate, revise, and coordinate interdisciplinary care plans in collaboration with healthcare team members and patients/families.
  • Communicate care plans effectively to all involved staff and prioritize care based on patient assessments.
  • Give clear treatment instructions to patients and families, involving them in care decisions.
  • Identify and respond to behavioral health, psychological, or cultural needs of patients.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and teamwork.
  • Document nursing processes accurately and concisely, including treatment evaluations, per hospital policies.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor for new staff, float personnel, and others on the unit.
  • Take responsibility for personal and professional growth and contribute to peers' development.
