Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL, seeks a Registered Nurse to join our full-time team in an acute care setting. The role emphasizes comprehensive patient assessments, care planning, medication administration, and patient education. Flexible weekend/holiday rotation and a focus on teamwork are part of the standard schedule.

Requirements include an Associate's Degree in Nursing and an active RN license in Florida; BLS and ACLS are required. Bachelor’s in Nursing is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must hold an Associate's Degree in Nursing (RN) and be licensed as an RN in Florida.
  • Bachelor’s of Nursing is preferred.
  • 1+ acute care hospital setting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments across physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual and lifestyle factors.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans; reassess and revise as needed.
  • Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and hospital protocols; monitor for adverse reactions.
  • Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, medications, and self-care.

Job Description

Days, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm (with weekend and holiday rotation)

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients.

  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary.

  • Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.

  • Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and compliance.

  • Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information, care activities, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills

  • Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures

  • Ability to work as a Team player within a unit

  • Effective verbal and oral communication and problem-solving skills

  • EKG competency

  • Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written skills)

  • Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft windows based programs

  • Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes

Education
