Job summary

The Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) seeks an experienced Charge Nurse for the Emergency Department. You will lead the ER team during high-stress moments, coordinate patient care, and supervise licensed and non-licensed staff to ensure safe, timely treatment.

Candidates must hold an active SC RN license (compact state accepted), BLS and ACLS, with 2+ years of RN experience. BSN preferred but not required. Strong leadership, communication, and critical thinking are essential.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in South Carolina or a compact state.
• BLS & ACLS through the American Heart Association.
• 2+ years of RN experience.
• BSN preferred, not required.
• Strong leadership, delegation, communication, and critical-thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care to patients of all ages.
• Serve as Charge Nurse, coordinating care and supervising licensed and non-licensed staff.
• Ensure compliance with Emergency Department nursing standards and best practices.
• Communicate unit needs and concerns to department leadership.
• Support staffing needs, including floating and on-call responsibilities as assigned.
• Promote safe, compassionate, and exceptional patient care—even when the pace is at its highest.
