Fairview Health Services is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the ICU - Cardiovascular (CVICU) at East Bank University Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. The role supports care for post-CABG, valve procedures, ECMO, VAD, and other complex cardiac patients with a low nurse-to-patient ratio.

Responsibilities include planning, delivering, and evaluating nursing care; collaborating with the health care team; and ensuring adherence to policies and the MN Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications

• MN RN Licensure is required.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) is required.
• ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.

Job description

Job Overview

Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our ICU - Cardiovascular Department at our East Bank University Hospital location in Minneapolis, MN.

We care for patients who have had coronary artery bypass, valve replacement and transcatheter aortic valve replacement, aortic arch repair and heart and lung transplant. The CVICU also handles patients with decompensated heart failure, adult congenital heart defects, cardiogenic shock, advanced pulmonary hypertension and cardiac arrest. We apply extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), ventricular assist devices (VAD), intraortic balloon pumps (IABP) and Swan-Ganz catheters routinely. Our complex patient population requires hemodynamic monitoring, critical medication management, management of organ failure, maintenance of systemic perfusion and high technical skills. This unit has a low nurse to patient ratio and resource nurses on unit.

Schedule: This position will be working 0.60 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift. This position will also work every third weekend.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

• Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
• Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)

Required Qualifications

• MN RN Licensure
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers
• Experience:
  • 1 year of ICU experience – OR –
  • 18 months of cardiac telemetry – OR –
  • 1 year of IMC experience – OR –
  • Completion of Capstone within Fairview or at another facility of tertiary level ICU care

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN or higher preferred
• Previous CVICU experience
• Certification in related specialty is highly desired.
• Certification by the American Association of Critical Care Nursing or in a related specialty is highly preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 month
