Job Description

General Summary

This role is considered the minimum for nurses at UMMC with over 12 months of experience. The nurse will be competent in required skills and fully participate in unit governance. Adheres to the guidelines in the UMMC Professional Nurse Job Charter. Provides and coordinates patient care within a clinical specialty, serving as an effective team member, and demonstrating professional nursing practice. Responsible for patient outcomes, satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness. Accountable to patients, families, peers, and the nurse manager for care processes, outcomes, and work performance.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Successful completion of probation, current mandatory training.
  • Maryland RN licensure or eligibility via Compact agreement.
  • 10 contact hours of education annually.
  • Membership in a professional organization.
  • Recent clinical experience in a comparable setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Leadership ability, such as charge nurse, preceptor, or resource.
  • Proficiency with computer systems for managing patient information.
  • Knowledge of growth, development, and patient-specific needs.
  • Effective communication skills.
Patient Safety
  • Ensures safety, participates in safety initiatives, and reports risks and adverse events.

Compensation
  • Pay Range: $38.51-$51.81
  • Eligible for shift differential.
