Overview:

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Burn Trauma, Intermediate Care - Medical/Surgical Unit.

Sign-on bonus up to $20,000 is available for qualified candidates. Relocation assistance can be provided!

The RN is responsible for providing competent nursing care, utilizing critical thinking and the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The role also encompasses professional standards such as ethics, communication, collaboration, and evidence-based practice.

Department Overview:

The Burn Trauma unit is a 34-bed mixed Intermediate Care and Medical/Surgical unit, caring for neurosurgery, trauma, burns, and orthopedic trauma patients. It includes 17 stepdown/intermediate beds and 17 Medical/Surgical beds. The unit receives patients from both the Burn Trauma ICU and the Neurosurgical ICU. Nurses are trained to work across both care levels, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 3-4 for intermediate care and 5-6 for Medical/Surgical care.

Qualifications:

• Degree or Diploma in Nursing (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or MSN (preferred)
• Active Registered Nursing License (required)
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire

Additional Information:

New graduates are encouraged to apply. The unit offers an 11-week Transition to Practice program and a comprehensive 6-month residency to support new nurses transitioning into this specialty.
