The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is the only adult burn center in Maryland, verified by the American Burn Association. Opened in 1968, the Center has a long history of providing high-quality burn care to patients from Maryland and beyond. As a comprehensive Burn Center, we offer the latest research and technologies for treating burn-related injuries from flames, chemicals, electricity, and scalds. We also provide treatment for complicated skin infections and other wounds. Our services include an inpatient Burn Unit, an Outpatient Burn Wound Clinic, and a Scar Revision Clinic.

To be a Burn Registered Nurse, RN, sharp clinical skills are needed. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Pain management, fluid balance, critical care, stabilizing acutely burned patients, trauma recovery, and rehabilitation.
2. Care for post-operative patients who undergo skin grafting or skin transplants.
3. Managing sepsis, as all patients have impaired skin integrity, making infection almost unavoidable.
4. Familiarity with complex dressing changes for intricate wounds is essential.
5. The Burn Unit can be overwhelming for patients, as they stay until wounds are healed.
6. Be prepared to stand for long hours to complete dressings and assist with patient showers.

Qualifications, Experience, and Education:

• RN license in Maryland or a compact state
• CPR certification (AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (must enroll in a BSN program within one year of hire and complete it within five years)
• Previous experience is a plus

Salary Range: Minimum $38.49/hour - Maximum $59.66/hour. Compensation will be based on experience and equity for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
